A Different Superman - A Review of the Man of Steel

People might think that we only write about sexy stuff here in TQ Magazines but thats not entirely true. We live in the real world too and we can do review so our first Review of the year is THE MAN OF STEEL. At first glance when we watched the Movie this Friday it was kinda influence by a lot of reality shows and some previously done effects from another movie. But anyway let me tell you about the plot first without spoiling the movie for you. In the comic books not version of the First Really Good Superman film was from Christopher Reeves way back in 1978. Yeah people it was way back in 1978 when the Man of Steel Flew again on the Big Screen.

Back then he was on the Silver Screen in black and while with another Reeves playing the part. George Reeves back in the 50s. The Original Superman Never really flew instead he hopped and skipped over tall buildings. That's why they coined the Phrase "Able to Leap Tall Buildings in a single bound". True enough the new incarnation of the Man of Steel stayed true to the comics. A lot of influence has gone to making the film as real as possible, like putting the audience in Superman's shoes. How is life being superman and even with all that power you can't even save the persons you love. Like I said I don't want to spoil the movie for you just find out who dies. Anyways back to my story.

The plot was really good too kinda like Avatar meets Star Trek the cinematography is great closely resembling John Carters world. Jor El played by English Actor Russell Crowe brought character to Godlike status. The look of Superman's home world is not so bad either and it was epic on the monumental explosion. The birthing chamber is so closely similar to the Matrix though so it kinda lack the Originality but Superman was the last of his kinda and you know what I am saying about the last of his kind when you watch the movie.

The Fight scenes were incredibly epic but nothing I have not seen before from other films but the non linear
play of the story kinda makes it confusing. For those that do not understand what non linear story telling means. Its going back and forth in the movie with flashbacks from the past and the present. Kinda like two movies overlapping each other. Both of which is ok but confusing if you don't like watching the movie from the past and the present.

The Kryptonian's Outfit and Spaceship reminded me of the movie District 9 where a lot of the Alien Sequence was shot in the morning normally traditional its shot at night. The realism was cool tool but the part of Lois Lane playing the role of a curious reporter in the Arctic Circle was kinda lame. But the UFO scenario was brilliant since it kinda hidden Superman's Identity secret. Again the tunneling in the ice thing I seen that before from another sci-fi movie.

Overall the new reboot of the movie gave a chance for new fans to watch it for the very first time. After all the very First time superman came out to the world was way back in 1938 created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Its been 75 years since the real origin story of Superman was told and I am not referring to the one they made back in 1978. That was a different time and they were limited with the movie technology they have back then. This film is for new fans. As for the Hardcore die hard fans of the Franchise its a chance to see the movie in a way that does not go with the traditional method of movie Making. I wont give it Five Stars but a good Four Stars will make this movie worth watching. A Superman movie for the Real World.
